Shooting a Central Michigan University engagement session brought back a lot of memories for us. Ashley and I met at CMU working for the student newspaper, CM Life. We spent our weekends together photographing sports. CMU is a big part of our history together, and we both became nostalgic and homesick in the short trip back to campus.
Working at the college paper is also how met Anna. We were beyond thrilled when she reached out to us to photograph her and Bryant’s Muskegon, Michigan wedding. Since they are both CMU graduates, they asked us to travel north from Novi.
The weather in October can be fickle, but Anna and Bryant lucked out with a gorgeous fall day. The sun was shinning bright. The leaves surprisingly remained on the trees, still in vibrant shades of maroon and gold. Best of all was the temperature. It was everything a couple could hope for during an engagement session.
We met at Warriner Hall near the famous campus seal. Strolling through campus, we found ourselves in the Barnes/Powers Courtyard. It’s a “hidden” gem tucked away on CMU’s campus. It made for a great place to make intimate engagement photos. Anna and Bryant weren’t afraid to show their emotions for each other. There is not doubt how proud Bryant is of Anna (and vice versa). He even made her tear up while expressing how he felt!
Later we ventured to Kelly/Shorts stadium and finished the engagement session in a field next to Theunissen Stadium. It was a perfect day for a perfect couple.
Anna and Bryant, in the spirit of CMU, we wish you “Sapientia, Virtus, Amicitia’.” If you’re not fluent in Latin, the seal translates to, “Wisdom, Virtue, Friendship.”
