Before we book with our couples, we like to schedule a meeting to get to know each other. We will never forget the conversation we had with Katie and Adam. They understood their wedding photos would be heirlooms, and they imagined showing their children one day. “I want to prove that mom and dad knew how to throw a party!” Katie said. We knew right away their big day would be unforgettable.
Katie and Adam met when they were teenagers while on vacation in California with their families. Katie saw Adam skateboarding with his friends, and she told her little brother, “That is who we’re going to be friends with.” They spent the rest of the week together. 11 years later, Adam took Katie to the very spot they met on Venice Beach and asked her to marry him.
They have built a life with each other in Wyoming working in the paleontology field. (Look at the incredible fossils below!) Just as we imagined, Katie and Adam planned an amazing Clarkston, Michigan wedding from across the country. They sang “You & I” by Ingrid Michaelson to each other during their personally written ceremony. Katie didn’t have just one emotional first look, but two- including one with her dad and brother. Not only was their wedding sentimental, it was gorgeous. Katie filled the Pine Knob Carriage House with beautiful succulents and billy balls and created some of our favorite centerpieces. We are also confident Katie and Adam will tell their future kids that they landed The Killer Flamingos, an amazing local band, for their reception. Reflecting back, it was a wedding we would love to relive.
Katie and Adam- thanks for opening up your hearts and embracing us on your big day. We can’t wait to see you next time you come back to Michigan.
