From start to finish, Katie + Marcus’s Northern Michigan wedding was a celebration. It was truly one of the most meaningful, unique wedding stories we have ever had the opportunity to document.
Katie + Marcus invited their friends and family to spend the weekend camping at Fireside Inn on Grand Lake in Alpena (a place near and dear to their hearts). It was an experience so like Katie + Marcus – personal, special and memorable.
When we arrived, everyone was socializing, enjoying the water and prepping for the day ahead. The whole morning was so relaxed and intimate. Minutes before their ceremony, the skies opened and it poured. Katie + Marcus’s friends helped carry their arbor and pews underneath a big tent. Although this was a departure from the original plan, we couldn’t imagine a more perfect ceremony.
Matt and I admire so many photographers, but while studying photojournalism, I connected with Katie and looked up to her distinct style. I had the incredible privilege to work alongside her as an intern at the Jackson Citizen Patriot. During my first week, we discussed how portraiture was out of my comfort zone. (This is so funny to admit now!) I learned so much from her that summer, and I am so thankful for all she taught me.
It was an indescribable honor Katie + Marcus chose and trusted us to document their wedding, and it was an incredible privilege to work in the presence of so many guests who are incredibly talented photographers. K+M – we can’t begin to imagine how much you two will accomplish together. We are so happy for you. We love you!
