We knew Gina and Rob were an awesome couple when they refused to let a little rain ruin their University of Michigan engagement session. We can say with absolute confidence that they are two of the sweetest, most genuine people we have ever met.
When we arrived at the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth the morning of their wedding, Rob greeted us with a huge smile in the lobby. After he finished writing a note to send with Gina’s wedding gift, Rob read his letter from his bride. On the floor above, Gina’s two sisters and best friend helped her into her chic wedding gown for their first look.
We placed Rob in the courtyard of the Inn and led Gina to her soon-to-be husband. As soon as Gina placed her hand on Rob’s shoulder, we could tell their world completely stopped.
After spending the morning together, we left for their ceremony at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Ann Arbor. This church is incredible. The stone exterior is from 1868, and the inside of the church has beautiful wood work, high ceilings and is perfectly lit. The church has an intimate and timeless feel, but it was large enough to seat all of their guests.
Emerald City Designs transformed the inside of the newly renovated Golden Fox at Fox Hills in Plymouth. The burgundy, blush and gold details combined the soft light of ivory candles perfected their December reception. After Gina and Rob’s first dance, their guests joined the dance floor. We had the best time. Just before we said our goodbyes, the Root Canals – a group made up Rob’s Dad and friends – serenaded the bride and groom. We couldn’t have imagined a better way for us to end the night. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Lay!
