Janelle + James married at Shanahan’s Barn in Charlevoix, MI in late October 2017. Years later, we are still swooning over their style and megawatt smiles.

Their wedding day fell on a perfectly cool and cloudy fall day in Northern Michigan. Janelle spent the morning surrounded by her bridesmaids at a lake house they had rented on VRBO. The girls had their hair and makeup done by some of our favorite Michigan stylists, Team Hair + Beauty. James and the groomsmen prepped at a condo in downtown Charlevoix with celebratory beer and pizza.

The most memorable moment for us was their first look at Shanahan’s Barn. James was completely stunned by his beautiful bride. This was genuinely one of the sweetest reveals we have documented.

Their ceremony was held outside on Shanahan’s Barn property, and J+J were married underneath a wooden cross adorned with flowers by the incredibly talented Sweetwater Florals.

The entire day was filled with laughter, hugs and tears of joy. During a time of social distancing and all 2020 has encompassed, it’s refreshing to think back to this time.

It’s been a fun adventure to look back and share our old work with you. We hope you all are enjoying this little journey too! (It has also reminded us how time-consuming blogging is. We have quickly remembered the number of hours spent selecting images, creating a story, resizing photos, exporting, renaming, uploading, re-organizing in WordPress, captioning, writing meta-data, etc…)

Despite the all-consuming process, it’s special to look back on these beautiful moments. Seeing your work published in web or print truly brings life to what we do. It makes the product feel finished and preserved. This is also a huge reason why we encourage our couples to start their legacy by printing their images!
