Sometimes when you meet people, it just feels meant-to-be. When Jacquelyn + Matt approached us to shoot their South Haven wedding, we instantly knew we were supposed to be friends.
We have never met anyone whose enthusiasm for life compares to Jacq’s. She is a huge ray of sunshine and her positivity and kindness is contagious. Matt is the perfect match for her. He is calm, thoughtful and so sweet… Matt is a complete gentleman. Since we met them a few years ago, they have been some of our biggest cheerleaders and favorite humans.
Their wedding was perfection. If you love gorgeous details, you will swoon over their stunning big day. From the beautiful chandeliers, lush blooms, custom Rifle Paper Co. invitations to Jacq’s breathtaking Vera Wang dress… their South Haven wedding was unforgettable.
How would you summarize your wedding day?
“It was a dream come true for both of us! We had been waiting for this day since February 2016 right after Matt proposed and the wedding planning began! It was supposed to rain all day on June 17th, 2017, but somehow the forecast changed that morning just in time, we like to think all our guardian angels took care of that for us! It was a day filled with so much LOVE & SUPPORT from family and countless friends that travel far and near all in one room! We are so very blessed for our incredible day as we said ‘I Do!'”
What are both of your favorite moments from the day and why?
Jacq’s: “My favorite moment was when I almost fainted after getting up to the altar…Not one would expect this to be it, but it was. After I sat down in the pew (middle of ceremony, haha) my future husband was there at my aid fanning me to cool me down and there for me in the moment. It was raw, it was real, it was unexpected, it was life happening and it was funny as you can see we just kept laughing after I cooled down. It showed how he is always there for me…especially in sickness & in health.”
Matt’s: “My favorite moment was when it was just Jacq & I right before the ceremony. We did a semi first look and read our personal vows to one another with our backs to one another sitting in chairs outside the church. Being able to do this before seeing Jacq walk down the aisle took all my nerves away instantly. It was so wonderful to have that quiet and special moment with my soon to be wife.”
How did you envision your wedding day prior to planning?
“We envisioned a beautiful celebration becoming husband and wife. We knew it was going to be a big wonderful celebration filled with LOVE & SUPPORT with both families joining together. No matter where our wedding would of been held, there is no doubt in our minds that love & support would of been present!”
What was your style vision and what were some of your favorite details?
“The style vision for our wedding was garden party romantic with light pink and navy. My favorite details were the FLOWERS & chandeliers inside the tent. We had a fairly large group of people celebrating our big day with us and we wanted it to feel intimate in a way with the garden romantic setting as best as we could. Matt’s favorite details was the band we found to keep the party rocking all night.”
What unique elements or special touches did you include?
“We had many family members that could not be there with us as they are forever in our hearts and in heaven, we made sure to let everyone know they were there with us by having an in memory table of their pictures at the church set up, so everyone could see before they entered the church. As well, we ended the night by having surprise fireworks for our guest! It was so awesome to see everyone’s reaction when they realized we would be having a private firework show outside the tent!”
What was your first dance song, and what was the significance?
“It was ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ by Elvis Presley. It perfectly described how our relationship got going from the start. We were nervous, excited, and couldn’t help but fall in love with each other. We knew we had a connection and it was meant to be.”
What wedding advice would you give to other brides/couples?
“Don’t sweat the small stuff, sometimes not everything goes to plan and that’s okay! Just enjoy every moment of how the day unfolds and it will be perfect in it’s own way. Also, remember the day goes by very fast, so make sure you soak each moment in.”
