Kathryn and Kevin’s Torch Lake engagement session embodied summer in northern Michigan. Kathryn and I were in the Leadership Advancement Scholarship program together at Central Michigan University and became fast friends. I always adored Kathryn’s sense of humor, outgoing and caring spirit and fierce intelligence. Matt and I were so happy when we met Kevin and witnessed how he complements all her wonderful characteristics. Most importantly, we saw how incredibly happy they make each other.

We caught up over dinner and craft beer at Short’s Brewing Company in Bellaire, Michigan before we headed to a place close to Kevin’s heart. Kathryn and Kevin took us to Camp Hayo-Went-Ha, a boys YMCA camp Kevin attended every summer growing up. He showed us the beautiful grounds, including an awesome room filled with memorabilia left behind by senior campers and a giant, fallen tree with incredible exposed roots. We hiked back to a fire pit, roasted marshmallows and made s’mores over a campfire. We ended the evening skipping stones and watching the sun set over Torch Lake. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening.
